Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) is Finland’s second largest governmental research institute, performing non-profit research and providing expert services, in order to advance the bioeconomy and the sustainable use of natural resources. Luke operates under the Ministry of Agriculture & Forestry (MMM) and was formed in 2015 from a merger of MTT Agrifood Research Finland, Finnish Forest Research Institute (Metla), Finnish Game & Fisheries Research Institute (RKTL) and the ministry’s Information Centre (Tike). Luke has about 1,300 employees, about half are researchers. Luke operates at 23 locations throughout Finland.
