IUNG-PIB (Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation - State Research Institute) within its 55 years’ activity has greatly contributed to agricultural and agroenvironmental science progress in Poland. Currently, IUNG-PIB has the status of state research institute under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The research conducted covers a wide range of issues relating to crop production and the impact of agriculture on the environment. In the field of environmental research, the Institute has the largest agrometeorological, soil, and environmental databases in Poland. The long-term comparison of different (organic, integrated, conventional) farming systems has been one of its more important research activities in the last years. IUNG-PIB has participated in many EU FP and Horizon 2020 projects and other international programmes. IUNG-PIB has a staff of more than 320, with an annual turnover of about 12 million Euro.
